Anthem of Freedom

The mirror at the breaking of the dawn brings out strange revelations; memories and flashes of disfigured, distorted shadows of the people I knew flit past my eyes against the backdrop of the reflection I see.
Curls tumbling down entwined, twisted in between my fingers are reminders of the events I now know would end in no good.
I let go the few loose strands that are left in my hands after they untangle from my hair. The are the people I have let go.
I gaze into the mirror; a delicious concoction of glass and silver and haze off to how different I look.
The breaking of the dawn brings out strange revelations- Of souls past; mine and theirs. Yours and mine.
I smile at what I see.
Then I step away and let go.
